Assassin's Creed Introduces Surprising AoT Crossover for Thanksgiving
In a unexpected collaboration that challenges conventional forecasts, Ubisoft has revealed an virtual crossover between Assassin's Creed Shadows and the popular anime series Attack on Titan. The surprising holiday event continues from November 25 through December 22, offering no-cost extra story content for Shadows players.
Strange Adventure Revealed
According to the official release, "An unusual encounter pulls characters Naoe and Yasuke into a original quest, where rumors of prohibited ceremonies and monstrous metamorphoses reverberate through the darkness." The narrative presents a "strangely garbed woman named Ada" who tasks the duo with venturing into the Crystalline Cavern—a key location from Attack on Titan—to rescue her companion from a secret cult.
The questline concentrates on "strange trials and a monstrous enemy" and is open to all players who have acquired the Yasuke character.
Familiar Places and Transformations
The preview showcases the Underground Chapel from Attack on Titan redesigned as the Crystal Cave. This historic location was previously where the Reiss royal family handed down the Founding Titan ability through ages. The trailer ends with a striking moment showing a character, presumably the prisoner, transforming into a Titan that towers over Naoe and Yasuke.
Exclusive Prizes and Extra Material
Players who finish the quest will receive an unique katana alongside multiple artifacts secreted throughout the area in hidden chests. The update also contains purchasable Attack on Titan item packs, including:
- Titan-themed attire for Yasuke
- Mikasa outfit for Naoe
- Unique implements
- Survey Corps mount
Newest Free Story Content
This update also adds the game's third complimentary story episode, titled "The Enigma." This playful mission pairs Naoe and Yasuke as they exchange characteristic abilities: Naoe reveals a dramatic interpretation of Yasuke's war kick, while Yasuke masters non-lethal stealth takedowns. Loyal to its name, "A Puzzlement" also features a new environmental puzzle that may finally shed light on some unresolved questions from the main storyline.
Earlier Japanese Animation Crossovers
This signifies hardly the first time the Assassin's Creed franchise has collaborated with popular anime properties. The series formerly featured a 2020 collaborative story linking Assassin's Creed: Valhalla with Makoto Yukimura's Vinland Saga. Moreover, Valhalla subtly included a quest that obviously echoed the famous series One-Punch Man.
